Waking up in the morning, you hope the traffic situation won’t be so bad today, when your children set off to school you hope they come back safe and sound, you hope the rain won’t spoil your reception in the middle of your favourite serial, you hope your third child after two boys is a girl, you hope you will shed some weight, you hope you’ll prosper, etc….etc…

I wonder what the result might be if a research was done to know how much the word ‘hope‘ is used in our daily life? We use the word in so many different ways that it ’s quite fascinating really!

Much of this issue is not so much about the casual, social hopes. Instead the focus is on the many little and large hopes people have for themselves and their suroundings.

There are people with lofty hopes of improving the world’s environment or the social economic condition of many poor countries and there are the vast majority who will be happy with achieving simple hopes like a pay rise or good grades.

It’s not about whether your hopes materialize or not, instead hopes are what we pin our daily activities on -  it’s all around us, in our minds, in our thoughts and in our actions.

You may not even say the word but it’s there in you.

What is the secret of some individuals who have made scientific discoveries, overcome obstacles, accomplished incredible feats of physical strength, became heroes of overwhelming odds or manifested miracles through their time on earth? These people weren’t blessed with superior intelligence or physical abilities….more often than not, it was quite the opposite! What was it that they had, that made them different? What was the secret for their accomplishments?

The KNEW…..they absolutely KNEW that there was a way and an answer. They KNEW…..they absolutely KNEW that they were going to accomplish their goal. Sometimes they weren’t sure HOW they were going to do it…..they just knew it would happen. Failure was not an option. Set backs were temporary because the final goal was in site. Just like someone stranded in a desert without water for days…nothing will deter him from reaching his goal for survival when he sees the oasis with refreshing water in front of him! What if I told you that YOU can have the same power for greatness? I don’t care what is that you want to achieve or accomplish…..you CAN do it. Now, take a moment to visualize something or think about a goal you would like to accomplish. Picture in your mind what it looks like, what it feels like? You can see an inner light and an endless sight into the future. You can feel the power emanating and you suddenly feel at peace. You can see your destiny, you have been placed here on this earth to make a significant difference for good. You will accomplish your goal. It is pre-ordained and it must happen. You may have difficulties on your journey, but fear not because you will be watched over and guided. Resonate with this thought for a while. Dear reader, you have the power right now to bring into being anything you want. I am not being mystical…..I just know. We all have the power but unfortunately most of do not use it. We just don’t seem to believe it, we don’t seem to have faith in it. But it’s there…..kind of floating around inside and all around you right now!!!

Looking back on the early days when the seed of a dream was planted in my mind by my dearest husband to start internet marketing…..I had spent a great deal of time trying to find motivation from within me to start. I am a stay at home mother of five kids and with zero ability on the internet. The line of people who advised me to not start the internet marketing were extensive and formidable. Yet….something inside me kept urging me forward, besides the motivation and encouragement from my husband. I can’t explain it. All I remember is that I KNEW I COULD DO IT. It continued to plague me until I just couldn’t stand it any longer. I knew there was a way to do this AND create a better life for me and my family.

Eight months have passed since the beginning of that dream. Mistakes and set-backs happened - some were quite severe - but failure was never an option. I didn’t quit. My husband encouraged me to keep my mind on track and to keep looking forward. A valuable lesson learned is that take time to listen and learn from the many accomplished individuals who already traveled through the “school of hard-knocks”.

I was blessed with mentors who came into my life, foremost being my husband. Some of the feedback wasn’t easy to hear, but it led me in the right direction. We enter the world as babies. Babies crawl, walk and…..falls down. They learn from experiences before they begin again. You too must crawl, walk, fall down…many times in some cases, to achieve you goals.

If you have a passion, a dream, a genuine desire to make matters better…..then seriously apply these guides to your inner being:

1. Don’t ever give up.
2. Do whatever it takes to stay motivated, read, listen to tapes, change your thinking, put reminders around you, meditate and pray.
3. If it isn’t working…then try another path.
4. Find a loving mentor.
5. Follow your own gut-feelings.
6. Be charitable, be kind.
7. Have the right intentions.

Life is full of choices. “Trying” is not an action or a result. You either DO or DON’T DO something. You either decide to change your life or you don’t. You either complete your goals or you don’t. No matter what you may have been told, success in life is hard work and does not come without sacrifice. You will make wrong choices and experience setbacks. Some will be minor, some maybe substantial. But that’s OK.

See it, say it, be it. Use the power of visualization and affirmations to speed up your goal-making process. Two of the most powerful tools available to mankind are positive visualizations and positive affirmations. And these tools are free!

What do you desire? Do you desire to be determined person, dutiful, trustworthy, truthful, hardworking, devoted, punctual, loving, caring, supportive, uplifting, pious and prayerful? How do you see yourself today? What do you want to be ten years from now? What qualities do you desire in yourself?

To become aware of what kind of person you would like to become in time is the beginning of self awareness. Did you know that man is the only creature created by God who has the power and intellect to see a reflection of himself in a mirror and say - that is me I am looking at. No other animal has that ‘awareness’ - of who he is. If you put a mirror in front of your pet dog, no matter how intelligent and well trained it is, it would never be able to ‘realize’ that - Hey! That’s me!

Man is the only creature who can look at himself, examine his own behavior, attitude and personality. This greatness God only gave to man, for the reason that man may be able to stand in front of himself and say - These are my strong points, and this is where I am weak; these are the things I need to improve about myself. Being born as a human being is the first step to salvation. That is the beginning of the journey that we call ’self awareness’. The journey is what we call ’self-development’. And this is the journey that is to be undertaken by everyone.

Life is a series of steps. These steps have to be climbed, one by one. The higher you go, the closer you come to ‘the door’ of your desires, your wants. Any child knows you have to walk up the steps before you can reach the top floor.

And if you are waking up everyday, and standing in front of your mirror and not realizing who that reflection is, you may not be taking advantage of this opportunity of human life that the universe has given you.

Do not waste anymore time than you already have. For life is unpredictable and no one was ever ready at his time of death. When the end comes, there will be no time to do anything.
